MEIR LOBATON CORONA

Casa ZCH

in collaboration with: Ioshua Lobaton

type: Residential interiorism // location: Interlomas, Estado de Mexico, Mexico // status: built

description: Typically, this type of apartment is handed over practically unfinished, which allows the owner to adapt it according to his functionally needs and aesthetic preferences.

One of the premises of the project was to achieve a fluid atmosphere, but at the same time to delimit every one of its spaces.

Although the scheme is determined by only a few elements, each one of the spaces keeps its own hierarchy and autonomy.

Before the intervention, the apartment’s public area was conformed by one open space, and, due to the configuration of the access on one of the far ends, it was necessary to walk through the public spaces in order to get to the private areas.

The two concrete walls, the mobile wood wall and the tilted virtual plane formed by the posts and steel beams, create a vestibule and break the linearity of circulation, integrating it to the other spaces.

The choice of materials answers to the desire to promote the daily use of the spaces and eradicate the formality that often characterizes them.
