description: This project consists of a residential complex with 16 units, in a traditional neighborhood in Mexico City.
The elongated shape of the plot of land, determined the scheme of the project: two horizontal buildings facing each other and aligned perpendicular to the street. Between the two buildings there is a green gap, whose aim is to recuperate the notion of shared spaces, and also refers to the traditional schemes of popular housing in Mexico: “vecindades”.
Both of the volumes are separated from the adjacent buildings, thus making possible the duplication in the development of the facades, and also promoting the creation of open and private spaces. Thanks to that, and to the fact that each apartment is different in size and distribution, it was possible to break with the characteristic anonymity of the new housing developments in Mexico City.
